Group therapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves one or more therapists working with several clients together as a group. The broader concept of group therapy can include any helping process that takes place in a group, including support groups, skills training groups, and psycho-educational groups.
Groups are usually offered in private practices, hospitals, mental health clinics, and community centers. This type of therapy is usually used alone; but in some cases, it is integrated into a comprehensive treatment plan that also includes another type of individual therapies.
